Its St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow and what better way to start the spring fun than with these boozy Jell-O shots?! They are actually infused with a margarita base so it is doubly delicious! You will need lime flavored Jell-O, triple sec (orange liqueur), silver tequila, hot water, chilled water, and party shot cups (pictured below). These margarita Jell-O shots are super fun and very vibrant. I used lime Jell-O because it symbolizes St. Patrick’s Day and if you didn’t know, the green shamrock is one of the mascot for this celebratory day.
Saint Patrick’s Day is actually a public holiday in Ireland but it was originally a Christian feast day in the 17th Century. It was a celebration of a patron Irish saint, Saint Patrick but now it is a popular day celebrated all over the world. People commonly make green-themed food and drinks to commemorate this celebration.
The first thing is to mix the booze ingredients with the chilled water. Your booze in this recipe is triple sec and tequila-which are what you use in a typical margarita. Then in a separate bowl, combine the lime Jell-O with the hot water. The water needs to be boiling hot so that the Jell-O powder dissolves quickly. Once you get that lovely bright green color with no sediments at the bottom, transfer it to a serving cup or measuring cup. That way you can pour it easily into the shot cups with less spills.
Keep your boozy Jell-O shots refrigerated for 5-6 hours or oven better, overnight. You can pop them straight into your mouth and that is what makes them so much fun. This recipe makes a large serving (about 19 shots), so invite all your vaccinated friends to join in on the fun!
