Homemade watermelon juice

by Effy A

This watermelon juice is so fresh and the perfect for the summer season. I’m currently in my hometown Ghana where the weather is always tropical so it is usually very hot on most days. I don’t have a juicer so this was done in my blender in batches. I had a gigantic watermelon in my house so I cut it in half and used that portion. This recipe works best with seedless watermelon, but I didn’t have that on hand. So I had to remove all the seeds and it was very tiresome and time-consuming.

Watermelon is packed with a heap of health benefits, particularly body temperature regulation, positive heart health, hydration and anticancer effects. I had a small capacity blender so I had to blend the watermelon juice in two batches and strained the whole thing to get a smooth consistency. If you have a juicer you can use that instead. After you use a juicer to get the smooth watermelon drink, you would have to mix it with the honey and lemon. I like to blend the watermelon with the honey and the lemon but it is totally up to you. You can alternatively use simple syrup to sweeten the watermelon juice. If you’re looking for more homemade juices, have a look at my rhubarb juice and hibiscus juice recipes.
