Sesame bagels

by Effy A

Bagels! Sesame bagels are good for snacks, breakfast or just dinner, and are topped with sesame seeds. Other popular toppings include everything seasoning, cheese, and jalapeño. Bagels are so popular so that’s why I had to try my luck on this famous bread recipe. It is typically made with plain yogurt and has a very short ingredient list. There’s no water bath included in this recipe since my attempt with one didn’t go well. I hope you find them as delicious as I did!

First you will need flour, yeast and plain yogurt. I added salt as well for a sharp contrast. I wanted sesame bagels so I brushed the bagels with egg wash and then sprinkled the sesame seeds all over. My tip to baking good bagels is to roll the balls into logs and then pinch the ends together into a tight circle. Keep rolling that part to make it smooth. They should look like doughnuts at this stage. After you leave them to rise, do the egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds on them.

I love eating bagels savory-with cream cheese, sausage, eggs, fried chicken or ham. The lox bagel sandwich is literally famous: it consists of smoked salmon, red onion, dill, capers and cream cheese. Eating it sweet is just as awesome-with jam or chocolate spread will do the trick.
