Nutella chocolate chip overnight oats

by Effy A

Overnights oats, baked oats and anything oats-related is seriously going hot on Instagram these days. This Nutella chocolate chip overnight oats is seriously epic with Nutella chocolate spread, milk (I use almond milk) and semi-sweet chocolate chips. It has a very nutty flavor and is bursting with chocolate! I topped my chocolate chip overnight oats with cookie butter and it was really lovely.

Overnight oats are basically oats which are left to soak in milk for a few hours until the oats get really soft. It is a similar concept to chia pudding. So you don’t have to cook it on the stove like oatmeal. The fridge does all the work for you. To make this recipe, use room-temperature Nutella. It is much easier to mix with the milk and doesn’t clump up. Combine the Nutella with the milk, then add the oats and choc chips. Wrap the bowl with cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or even overnight. The texture should be really creamy and cereal-like. I highly recommend using quick oats rather than rolled oats for this recipe. With rolled oats I found that it didn’t get pudding-like and creamy even two days later. It tasted delicious, however quick oats absorb the liquid much faster.

I also have a super delicious maple overnight oats recipe in my latest cookbook, Cozy Delights, so have a look! Other awesome oat recipes for breakfast:
