Yay, its strawberry season! So let’s make super refreshing strawberry limeade. It’s not hot yet on my side of the world but I always need to have a beverage of some sort on the weekends. There are literally few things that are worse than a dry throat eating lunch or dinner. You can make this limeade three ways:
- by blending the ingredients together until smooth.
- muddling the strawberries with sugar and lime before mixing it with water.
- making strawberry syrup and mixing it with lime juice and water.
I actually prefer the second method because you get to taste the bits of strawberries in the drink. This is a vibe I like a lot because it reminds me of when I drink bubble tea with boba. So basically it tastes very fresh and summer-like. If you want to go with option 1 or 2, go ahead because it will still be delicious. However, this recipe includes instructions for methods 1 and 2 only.
You will need fresh strawberries to make this work. When it comes to limeade, lime concentrate also works just fine. If you have fresh limes your limeade will taste even better. Get about 8 limes-squeeze 6-7, and slice the remaining one lime to garnish your limeade. Serve this strawberry limeade with fresh mint sprigs if you want!
Another interesting limeade recipe on the blog is this chia limeade made with chia seeds.
Ingredients
10 strawberries, trimmed and diced
1 cup lime juice
4 cups water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Tray of ice cubes to serve
Fresh mint to serve
Instructions
Muddle method
- Mix the strawberries with the sugar and a bit of the lime juice and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This will help release the juices from the strawberries.
- Then mash (muddle) into a pulp.
- Transfer to a large jug which is at least 2L in capacity and add water.
- Stir well and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Check the sugar levels and adjust as necessary.
- Serve over ice in glasses and garnish as preferred.
Blending method
- Blend the strawberries with lime juice, and water.
- Pour into a large jug and mix with sugar until it's dissolved.
- Serve chilled over ice cubes.
