These spicy shito wings are so delicious and easy to make! They are roasted to juicy perfection in the oven and are the perfect appetiser. I tossed in a shito sauce along with other seasonings before baking. You can marinate them in the fridge overnight for better tasting wings. Shito is a condiment used to serve Ghanaian meals like waakye, jollof and kenkey and fried fish.
Shito is quite salty since it is made from lots of dried seasonings, fish and oil. This popular sauce has blended onions, tomatoes, and is deep fried until pitch black in color. It is commonly found in Ghana and you may also find it in African specialty stores. I like to mix the shito sauce with the seasonings before rubbing it onto the chicken. I sometimes place the shito wings on a wire rack on the baking tray before roasting them to make the chicken wings juicier. If you don’t have one, place the wings directly on a lined baking tray. This wing recipe would go well with ranch sauce or barbecue sauce. I highly recommend serving these spicy shito wings with roasted potatoes, fried rice and coleslaw.
