This mango orange float is inspired by an orange creamsicle bar, an orange favorite sherbert with cream in the middle. The creamsicle is a cocktail drink with vodka, orange liqueur, cream and orange soda. This ice cream float has chunks of mango pureed with sugar, and then stirred with orange soda and ice cream for a fun twist.
Orange soda is fairly sour so mixing it with the ice cream won’t make your float any sweeter. So I added granulated sugar. You can also add simple syrup, which is equal parts sugar and water boiled, until dissolved. You can make this fruity float more unique by using my homemade strawberry syrup or an aromatic twist with my rosemary simple syrup or lavender syrup. Blend the mango with the sugar to get really small chunks of mango which is easier to stir. You can also use a muddler or a potato masher.
I recommend using a neutral tasting ice cream like coconut or vanilla for best results. This drink is so fun and vibrant because of the layered, colorful appearance! Mix this creamy mango orange float well before serving. This would go great with sweet pies or muffins on outdoor occasions in the spring.
