Strawberry kiwi slushies are totally the wave for a hot summery afternoon. The key to a typical slushy is a bunch of frozen fruit, ice, chilled water and a form of sweetener. Some people even add food coloring to their slushies for a fun, colorful vibe. These slushies are my personal favorite because strawberries are literally my go-to fruit in any season. Kiwis are also up there because I find them so unique and fun, so this is a great combo!
To start, I like to prep my fruits: peel the kiwis, trim off the ends of the strawberries and freeze them for at least overnight. If you want a shortcut, you can buy a bag of frozen strawberries at the grocery store. For sweetener choices, you can use white (granulated) sugar, or simple syrup or honey. I wanted to use honey but I didn’t have some so I used maple syrup. You will also need a high-speed blender with a high wattage because you will be crushing lots of fruits and frozen ingredients. I added in some fresh mint to make it super crisp.
Try to serve these strawberry kiwi slushies immediately for best results. I like adding ice when I serve my slushies, that way the frozen feel is never lost. However this is totally optional! If you happen to have any leftovers, which I doubt, but if you do, you can freeze them in a plastic container. When you are ready to drink the leftovers, crush it up with a metal spoon and let it thaw slightly for a few minutes. It will slowly become more liquid-like as it warms up to room temperature.
