Hwachae is the term for Korean punch made with fruit or edible petals, carbonated drinks and fruit juices. It resembles a giant drinkable fruit salad. It’s very delicious and not too sweet. I used watermelon, strawberry, fruit cocktail in my hwachae. Other berries and even banana or pineapple can be typically used in hwachae.
I like to add the syrup around the fruit cocktail to make the punch sweeter. I also refrigerated the Sprite and strawberry milk prior to making the hwachae so it is super chilled. Just combine all the ingredients in a bowl and serve cold. That’s literally it. Some recipes like to add condensed milk to make it a tad sweeter. I’ve tried both ways and don’t have a favorite so it’s up to you. Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
