This red wine sangria is made of Fanta orange, rum, mixed berries, pineapple and has lots of summery tones to it. It was a really fun recipe to develop. Red wine is actually my least favorite type of wine so this was a way to spruce up a red wine cocktail. I prefer sweeter cocktails and that’s why I used blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and pineapple. This makes a large serving, of course, so this can be served at group dinners and gatherings.
A good sangria is really just about refrigerating it long enough to soak up the fruits you use. I tend to go for cranberries, apples, grapefruit or berries. Here are some other awesome options for any sangria:
- kiwi
- pears
- strawberries
- mango
- grapes
- dragon fruit
- cherries
Simple syrup is an important part of any sangria recipe. It involves boiling equal parts sugar and water until it dissolves. If you don’t want to use that then you can also use grenadine syrup (which is pomegranate flavored), maple syrup or honey. For optimal results, chop larger fruits like apples, pears into smaller sizes so it is just easier to serve. Smaller fruits like raspberries and blueberries are pretty tiny so this isn’t necessary. Also, the longer you refrigerate your sangria, the sweeter it gets so you can make this recipe in advance. For example, I make this a day ahead before I want to serve it. Happy drinking!

You can experiment with other Fanta flavors. Fanta Orange is the common classic but there is Fanta berry and other interesting flavors you could try with this recipe.
