Banana split is synonymous with hot weather vibes. It is a summer treat that you cannot resist and is so damn easy. All you need to do is split a banana in half very carefully and the rest is history. I actually struggled with splitting my bananas and to this day I can’t tell you why. It just kept breaking sideways and so on that note, go for a semi-ripe banana for best results.
You will need ice cream for this to become a sundae. You can get creative with your banana dessert by using an array of sweet toppings. I used sliced strawberries, peanuts, chocolate syrup, shredded coconut and coconut whipped cream. I recommend drizzling this baddie with my homemade strawberry syrup. I’ve seen this served in banana split “boats” and it is really lovely too. However, a shallow bowl works just fine. Just serve this cold, that’s it-the whole recipe.
Ingredients
4 bananas, split in half lengthwise
Ice cream to serve
Toppings of your choice: nuts, candy and syrups like caramel or chocolate
Instructions
- Arrange the banana halves closely together in a large bowl or banana split dish.
- Add generous scoops of ice cream on top and garnish as preferred.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
Leftovers are impossible because the ice cream will just melt in the fridge.
