This ginger ale spritzer is literally two main ingredients wine and ginger ale. Then it is topped with lemon or orange wedges for a nice citrus twist. A traditional spritzer is made from wine and carbonated water like club soda. I’ve seen some recipes also use orange peels. Ginger ale is a sparkling ginger-flavored soda so this is mimics the original recipe perfectly. I think this is great for happy hour after work and you are too lazy to whip up more intensive cocktails from scratch.
The trick is not to mix the ginger ale with the wine all at once. As I previously mentioned ginger ale is a carbonated soda so it will lose its fizz over time. It’s better to pour the wine into glasses three-quarters of the way and then when you are ready to serve, add the ginger ale at the last minute. For ultimate crispness, chill the wine and the ginger ale for a few hours before making this recipe. I didn’t use ice cubes, but you can totally add some ice if that’s what you prefer.
This ginger ale spritzer is very mellow but super fun at the same time. I also think that picky drinkers might like this because it is not too sweet, not too sparkly and very delicious. For this reason, I recommend this for any holiday season and also because it yields a large batch of drinks. Other holiday-worthy drinks are my white sangria and my Fanta red wine sangria.
Ingredients
750ml bottle white wine
3x355ml cans ginger ale (I used Canada Dry)
1 lemon or orange, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Add 2 lemon/orange wedges to about 6 wine glasses each.
- Fill each wine glass with the white wine 3/4 of the way.
- Top each filled glass with ginger ale.
- Serve chilled.
