In my opinion, good grocery shopping is the core foundation of any food blog. Therefore, how easily I grocery shop really matters to me so it is something I like to do when I’m in a good mood. I also love doing it after a busy day outdoors so that I don’t feel overwhelmed by the chore. Grocery shopping can be fun when done right. Here are a few tips that I like to follow when I grocery shop:
1. Plan your meals ahead of time
Having an idea of what you will crave during the week is perfect for meal prepping and cooking conveniently.
2. Make a shopping list to ensure you don’t overspend or forget what you need
A shopping list saves you time at the grocery store and keeps you in line with your budget (if you have one). Grocery shopping moves more smoothly this way if you are prepared.
3. Look at the lower shelves for better value
Sometimes, the lower shelves carry the cheaper, bulk items which are rarely found at eye level.
4. Don’t get carried away by the promotions in the grocery store
Some promotions are awesome, however, it’s best to not get carried away. If you really don’t need 20 cartons of milk, then you should probably not get it even if it’s sold for $10.
5. Don’t get carried away by brand names
If there is a lesser known brand offering the same product for a cheaper price, then by all means go ahead and get that alternative. More often than not, brands offer a similar quality so I hardly get disappointed with brands who offer lower prices. Hopefully these tricks and tips will help you grocery shop better.
